We recently had Phoebe Stone in the studio for her first Solo Art Exhibition ‘Sea call’

Sea Call is a body of work that explores an imagined weekend with Stone's late grandfather on his yacht — ‘The Sea Call’.

Having been lost at sea in the late 1960s, before the artist was born, each artwork captures imagined moments between the pair. Light lunches of freshly-caught fish are cobbled together in the cabin, apéritifs are sipped on deck, stories are swapped and the light — skipping across the water’s surface — is watched…

Phoebe is a self-taught Sydney/Cammeraygal based artist working in oil pastels. In her work, Stoneexplores the beauty and delight to be found in a well balanced coming together of composition, colour, pattern and texture. Scenes of the domestic, whether food or the accoutrement of daily life, are drawn and drawn again by Stone in her signature urgency, impatient to see their pleasing forms and arrangements take shape on the paper.
